New album
Origins is a personal journey through the connection between folk tradition and classical music. Coming from a family with a strong folk music tradition, I grew up surrounded by these sounds, which have remained an important part of my musical identity.
The album brings together classical repertoire, Serbian traditional melodies, my own transcriptions and contemporary music, exploring how the sounds and traditions we grow up with can find their way into classical music.

Serbian concert pianist Nikola Avramovic plays his own piano transcription of the Serbian folk dance “Vranje”.
The recording is made at the Kolarac Concert Hall in Belgrade, in December 2022, as part of new project “Origins”.

About
Considered as one of Serbia’s finest pianists, Nikola Avramovic is a sought-after performer. He is the recipient of the prestigious Benjamin Britten Piano Fellowship at the Royal College of Music in London (for 2017/2018) which is supported by the Philip Loubser Foundation.
As part of this scholarship, Nikola has recorded an album for Genuin Record Label in Germany, which was released on 6th of March 2020. He is a graduate of both the Belgrade Academy of Arts and London’s Royal College of Music, having studied and worked in masterclasses with pianists including Ninoslav Zivkovic, Ian Jones, Ashley Wass, Eliso Virsaladze, Wei-Yi Yang, Aleksandar Madzar and Janina Fialkowska.
Nikola has been the recipient of many scholarships and awards. He was the First Prize winner at the EPTA Competition and the Serbia Republic Competition. He was also granted the Yamaha scholarship, Second Prize winner at the Joan Chissell Schumann Piano Competition at the RCM.
During his studying at the Belgrade Academy of Music, he got two prestigious awards: award for the most talented student at the Piano department from the fund Olga Mihajlovic and award for the most promising pianist from the fund, Emil Hajek.
